Brake caliper painting

Brake calipers are murder on paint. We use heat-resistant caliper-spec coatings in any colour you fancy, applied properly so they don't peel back to the metal in 6 months.

Done badly, painted calipers look great for one summer. Done properly, they hold colour, gloss and bond through years of brake heat and road salt. We strip, treat and recoat each caliper with finishes rated for sustained brake-disc heat, then cure them so they stick.

Brake calipers see brake-disc heat, road grit, salt spray, brake dust and wheel cleaner all year round. A pound-shop rattle can lasts about a season before it browns off and starts peeling.

We strip the caliper back, treat the surface so the coating bonds, and apply a high-temperature caliper-spec finish in whatever colour you want - red, gold, fluoro yellow, gunmetal, satin black, anything we can powder-match. Optional logo or lettering applied on top.

The job is done with the wheels off, so the natural pairing is with a wheel refurb - one trip, both jobs done. Or as a finishing touch on a brand new set of wheels.

What you get

  • Heat-resistant caliper-spec coating
  • Any colour: red, yellow, gold, fluoro, custom
  • Optional logo / lettering
  • Done with the wheels off, can pair with a refurb

How the work is done

  1. Wheels off. Car raised, wheels off, brake hardware exposed. Pads and discs left in place; we mask, not dismantle.
  2. Strip and prep. Old paint, brake dust and contamination removed. Surface treated so the coating bonds.
  3. Mask. Hose connections, slider pins and rubber seals masked off so coating only goes where it should.
  4. Coat. Caliper-spec heat-resistant finish applied in your colour. Cured under controlled heat.
  5. Optional lettering. Manufacturer logo or custom lettering applied on top once base is cured.
  6. Refit. Masking removed, calipers checked, wheels back on and torqued to spec.

Common questions

Brake caliper painting FAQs.

  • How long does caliper paint last?

Done properly with caliper-spec coatings, 3-5 years before any noticeable colour fade or chipping on a daily driven car. Done with off-the-shelf rattle can, a season at best.

  • Will it affect the brakes?

No. We mask off slider pins, hose connections and any moving surfaces. Only the visible body of the caliper is coated, and only in finishes rated for the heat brakes generate.

  • Can you match my car's colour or a specific shade?

Yes - red, gold, fluoro yellow, gunmetal, satin black are common, but we can match almost anything. Bring a colour code or sample if it's bespoke.

  • Can you add a logo?

Yes - manufacturer logos, model names or custom text. Done over the cured base coat.

  • Should I do this at the same time as a wheel refurb?

If the wheels are coming off anyway, it's the right time. Saves one workshop visit, one set of off-and-on, and the calipers look right behind freshly refurbished wheels.
